How long have you been coaching volleyball, and what inspired you to get started?
This will be my third year coaching, and my love for volleyball has inspired me every step of the way. I’ve been playing for as long as I can remember, and that lifelong passion continues to drive me as a coach.
What do you enjoy or look forward to about coaching for Alpha?
I’m really looking forward to spending time with the girls and their awesome families. I also love getting to cheer on my players from past seasons and seeing how much they’ve grown.
How do you approach developing athletes both on and off the court?
On the court, I focus on building their skills and confidence, but off the court I make sure to get to know the girls and check in on how they’re doing too. I want them to feel supported in all parts of their life, not just volleyball.
What can athletes and their families expect when they join your team in terms of development and growth?
They can expect a team that works hard but also has fun. The girls will grow in their volleyball skills and confidence, but also in teamwork, communication, and supporting one another. Families can expect a positive environment where their daughters are encouraged both on and off the court.
What’s your favorite drill or coaching technique, and why do you love using it?
My favorite game is Steal the Bacon. I love it because it gets the girls to work together, think outside the box, and be creative with volleyball.
What’s one piece of advice you’ve received as an athlete or coach that you still carry with you today?
The best advice I’ve gotten is to remember that we’re not just coaching for club season—we’re also preparing the girls to head back and be stronger players and leaders on their school teams too.
