Rhonda Morris
How long have you been coaching volleyball, and what inspired you to get started?
I have coached volleyball for 20 years. As an elementary physical education teacher, I have always wanted to share the sport of volleyball with students and when I was presented with the idea of starting middle school volleyball in Scott County, I jumped on that opportunity and have loved working with hundreds of girls since!
What do you enjoy or look forward to about coaching for Alpha?
I love the family feel that Alpha provides! The support from team to team and parents to parents make games a fun environment.
How do you approach developing athletes both on and off the court?
Volleyball is so much more than just a sport! Teamwork, communication, sacrifice, sportsmanship and life lessons are just a few things athletes will develop through Alpha that will affect them both on and off the court!
What can athletes and their families expect when they join your team in terms of development and growth?
Athletes and families can expect a fun and positive environment where they feel free to learn and develop skills without a fear of making mistakes. High expectations for attitudes, effort and team-first mentality will also be a focus for my teams.
What’s your favorite drill or coaching technique, and why do you love using it?
I love ball control and hustle drills as those are 2 skills that are essential to teaching the beginner volleyball player.
What’s one piece of advice you’ve received as an athlete or coach that you still carry with you today?
Focus on the two things you can control...your effort and your attitude.
