How long have you been coaching volleyball, and what inspired you to get started?
This will be my 15th year coaching volleyball.
Coaching gives me the chance to help athletes build confidence, develop lifelong skills, and create memories they’ll carry long after the season ends.
What do you enjoy or look forward to about coaching for Alpha?
What I enjoy most about coaching with Alpha is having the ability to coach and work with many different players from many different schools. I also love getting to watch the girls learn and grow over several seasons.
How do you approach developing athletes both on and off the court?
I like to focus on developing athletes both as players and as people. On the court, it’s about skills and teamwork, and off the court, it’s about building confidence, responsibility, and character that carry into everyday life.
What can athletes and their families expect when they join your team in terms of development and growth?
Athletes can expect development in three areas: skill, character, and confidence. We’ll work hard to improve their game, but we’ll also focus on teaching life lessons—like communication, accountability, and perseverance. Families can expect an environment where growth is celebrated just as much as achievement on the court.
What’s your favorite drill or coaching technique, and why do you love using it?
My favorite drill is "Pit Drill". I love this drill because I like to see players exerting every ounce of energy and communication they have to keep the ball alive.
What’s one piece of advice you’ve received as an athlete or coach that you still carry with you today?
Never Quit. When things get tough, as they sometimes will, never ever quit!
