How long have you been coaching volleyball, and what inspired you to get started?
I’ve been coaching private lessons for several years and have helped teams in Scott County and various club teams throughout college. I have always loved playing volleyball so after graduating from college coaching seemed like the most natural step!
What do you enjoy or look forward to about coaching for Alpha?
I look forward to being apart of Alpha again. I loved my years I spent playing for Alpha and I can’t wait to be apart of a competitive and fun volleyball environment again.
How do you approach developing athletes both on and off the court?
I believe that if you are having fun while playing it brings out the best in the athletes. Focusing on the love for the game while developing skills makes for a great season.
What can athletes and their families expect when they join your team in terms of development and growth?
They can expect to have to work hard and focus on their skills to grow as an athlete.
What’s your favorite drill or coaching technique, and why do you love using it?
I enjoy fast past drills that resemble live game play. Volleyball is fast paced game so running drills that resemble live play help to teach those natural instincts needed to adjust in a game.
What’s one piece of advice you’ve received as an athlete or coach that you still carry with you today?
“Impress yourself”. You never know what you are truly capable of until you give it your all. Sometimes you might even impress yourself with what you are able to accomplish when you work hard.
